Mark's Ten Best Photos

I don't know if these are my ten best photos or my ten favourite photos.  It's been hard to choose, and being objective even harder.

I have a lot of photos of my wife and daughter, and some more "art" based photos which I like a lot but am not sure they are among my best.

The first two in this series are from Paris.  I took a lot of photos there this summer and spent a couple of hours in and around the louvre and think that I was happiest, most relaxed there because it felt comfortable to take pictures of anything and so got photos I wanted.

The following two are from Wales, I have no idea why I like the first one, possibly is its simplicity, and composition.  This photo is also from a gallery that we visit when we are there.  The second is on the West Shore in Llandudno and I like photos the light and composition.

The next three are from a wedding that I was asked to photograph, there were a lot of generic weddingy photos, but I shot about 1500 photos on the day so there some good ones to play with, and I think these three "unguarded" shots are my best from the day.

The next two are portraits where I think I've caught a genuine emotion or expression, and I think that is what I like photographing most, they feel the same as the wedding shots, the only difference being that the people in the shots are aware of the camera.  The first was on an evening out with my wife, daughter and mother and I was simply playing with the aperture priority.  The second, of my daughter, was taken as part of my first kitchen theme pictures but didn't fit into the ten I posted.

The last is one is, I think, probably better that my favourite from the 2nd kitchen series which was in black and white, so I posted it.

If there is a theme through my photography it does seem to be people in "real" situations doing "real" things.  Capturing "real" emotions & expressions.
